Requirements have been reduced for patients as well as those who were in contact, effective as of Wednesday January 19, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new requirements are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vaccinated Positives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who are fully vaccinated and have tested positive for COVID must be in isolation for 6 days, with a negative PCR test on day 7 to exit isolation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vaccinated Positives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who have been in contact with a COVID positive patient must take daily lateral flow test for 7 days but can continue usual daily activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unvaccinated Positives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those how have tested positive and are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated must isolate for 9 days and have a negative PCR of day 10 to exit isolation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unvaccinated Contacts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unvaccinated persons in the household of a positive must quarantine for 10 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a primary contact is a negative, unvaccinated child (under 18 years of age), they should conduct daily lateral flow tests (LFT) for 7 days. They can attend school if daily LFT results continue to be negative<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI welcome the introduction of these reduced isolation periods as announced by Public Health,\u201d shared Hon Sabrina Turner, Minister of Health &amp; Wellness. \u201cWe understand the difficulties many families have faced because of the COVID-19 restrictions. Currently, we know that there are many persons in isolation and quarantine and this new policy will allow many of them to rejoin the community sooner and safely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe continuous evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic requires us to consistently assess how we manage the spread of the virus, while ensuring continuity for our economy\u201d, said interim Chief Medical Officer Dr. Autilia Newton.&nbsp; \u201cThis change to the isolation and quarantine requirements is a step towards us improving the management of COVID-19 to best suit the needs of the Cayman community.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Public Health has issued the new quarantine\/isolation requirements for those who are positive for COVID-19.
